Bistro Mikami
A moment to unwind in the city.
Bistro Mikami in Nakameguro offers a relaxed setting for wine and classic French dishes, from rustic terrines and escargot to seasonal fish and braised meats.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Looking up at a wall-length blackboard packed with dish names and planning how to pace the table is one of the classic pleasures of dining at a bistro. Set along a Nakameguro side street, Bistro Mikami is a French restaurant where choosing each course—from small opening plates to hearty entrées—is part of the appeal.
The natural starting point alongside a first drink is the restaurant's roster of traditional hors d'oeuvres. Classic bistro flavors are well represented by rich, savory options such as the rustic country pâté, chicken white liver mousse, and piping-hot escargot à la bourguignonne. Seafood and vegetable preparations, including medium-fatty tuna (chutoro) or spot prawn tartare and a house-made bacon salad, encourage mixing and matching different tastes across the table.
The hot dishes and main courses are equally generous, featuring seasonal fish specialties, slow braises, and roasts. Dishes like the crisp catch-of-the-day meunière, a flavor-dense petit bouillabaisse, slow-simmered beef in red wine, and braised oxtail are crafted to pair naturally with wine. Diners can order entirely à la carte from the daily board or opt for a tailored course arranged in consultation with the staff.
Meals unfold at an easy pace in the dimly lit, calm dining room, supported by wines by the glass and a comprehensive cellar focused on Burgundy. With service centered primarily on evening hours, booking a table in advance is recommended once travel dates are settled.
